Princess Sakuna, daughter of a war god and a harvest goddess, lives a spoiled, idle life among the gods of Yanato. After a chance meeting with a band of humans leads to a string of mishaps, she is banished to Hinoe Island, a barren place known as the Isle of Demons. The ruling deity, Lady Kamuhitsuki, orders her to secure the island for the capital and drive out the demonic beasts that infest it. With her guardian Tama and a group of outcast humans beside her, Sakuna must endure the elements, battle monsters, and grow rice, which is the source of her power. Along the way she has to rediscover what it means to be the child of her divine parents. The action fantasy pairs demon fights with the hard work of farming.
