Harima's confession never comes. The show ends before the thing you spent two seasons waiting for actually happens, and somehow that's exactly right, School Rumble always knew the chase mattered more than the catch. These two episodes don't wrap anything up so much as they let you sit with these people one last time, watching them miss their shot and keep living anyway. A series that built itself on romantic tension finally admits that tension is the whole point, that the messy not-knowing is better than any answer. It's a bruise of an ending for a show that earned the right to leave you wanting.

As the third term ends, Karasuma is set to leave for America, and this two-episode OVA sets out to wrap up the story of School Rumble. During a school walkathon on the beach, Tenma hopes to tell Karasuma how she feels before he heads for the airport, but their talk leaves her deeply hurt. Harima, meanwhile, still faces the question of whether he will ever confess.
