Two episodes adapting Japanese literary works make up this 1987 drama special: Student Days by Masao Kume and The Friend Who Didn't Believe in Friendship by Saneatsu Mushanokoji. They were left out of the original run of the series and reached viewers a year later instead, when TV Asahi aired them as a pair of standalone specials.
