Ritsu doesn't know the man kissing him is the boy he loved in high school, and that secret transforms every interaction into something unbearably real. The show wrings genuine emotion from a reunion plot that could have been pure fanservice, building something that actually matters between two people who need each other but can't say it. Comedy keeps it alive when the tension gets too heavy, but the romance never becomes a joke.

Ritsu joins Marukawa Shoten's shoujo manga department hoping for a fresh start, but his new boss Takano Masamune immediately throws him off balance. The two clash from the outset, and Takano even kisses him unexpectedly. Ritsu later learns that his demanding editor-in-chief is actually Saga, the high school senpai he once loved and believed had toyed with his feelings before dumping him. The sting of that old heartbreak crashes into the present, forcing Ritsu to face the feelings he thought he had put behind him. Working under brutal deadlines in the Emerald editing department, Ritsu has to deal with Takano every day, while Takano makes it clear he intends to hear Ritsu say he loves him again. Alongside their story, the romantic comedy follows two other couples connected through the manga business, each experiencing the stirrings of first love.
