Cyan and her bandmates feel like actual friends who happen to be animals, not mascots pretending to have chemistry. The show doesn't care about plot coherence, it just wants you laughing at a cat in gothic lolita trying to be a rock star while a rabbit takes notes and an alien sheep exists for no reason. Season two gets less polished than the first, but the band's warmth doesn't dip, and that's what keeps you coming back.

The second season of Show By Rock!! returns to Midicity, a metropolis where music is everything and bands battle for glory. Cyan, a cat girl dressed in gothic lolita fashion, is scouted by Maple Arisugawa, who heads a music agency. She teams up with Chuchu, a rabbit girl and model student, Retoree, a dog girl with a love of the internet, and Moa, a sheep girl who may be an alien. Together they form Plasmagica, set on reaching the top. The road is long and hard, and keeping their spirits up matters. By taking on a string of strange rival bands, they slowly grow into a top-tier act that might one day drive Midicity's whole music scene. Expect a fantasy comedy full of animal-eared musicians and musical showdowns.
