Humanity finally faces the threat of the Custodians, an ancient, sentient species blamed for cursing people to speak different languages thousands of years ago. The Symphogear wielders Hibiki, Tsubasa, Chris, Maria, Kirika and Shirabe are sent to the Antarctic to recover an ancient relic, rescuing the scientific staff there from a Coffin, the automated defense guarding it. Under international agreements the relic is then handed to American researchers. Meanwhile Noble Red, a criminal group left over from the Bavarian Illuminati, begins targeting the artifact.
