Ryota Miyagi is Shohoku's quick-footed point guard, a player who outthinks and outruns opponents while hiding his nerves behind a calm face. Raised in Okinawa, he fell for basketball by following his brother, three years his senior and a well-known local player from childhood. Now a second-year in high school, Ryota lines up with Sakuragi, Rukawa, Akagi and Mitsui at the Inter-High national tournament, where Shohoku is about to face the reigning champions, Sannoh Kogyo High School. The result is a sports film built around one team's biggest test.
