This one doesn't need you to have watched five other iM@S shows to land. The Producer picks up six idols nobody's heard of, gives them actual room to breathe between performances, and lets you watch them figure out who they are before they're ready to be anyone else. It's quiet in a way idol anime almost never are, which means every small win at a live feels earned instead of inevitable. The weakness is real: nothing catastrophic happens, no rival agency threatens the group, no betrayal. That's not a flaw if you're watching for the characters. It's the entire point.

An ambitious producer at 283 Production is already managing several idol units when a chance meeting with the gifted singer Mano Sakuragi leads him to form a new group, illumination STARS. Mano pursues her dream with the backing of fellow members Hiori Kazano and Meguru Hachimiya, while the producer also works to raise the profile of his other units. His target is the Wonder Idol Nova Grand Prix, or WING, a prestigious contest for rookie idols. His deeper aim is to help each idol mature as a professional and find what makes them shine. The twelve episodes were first screened in theaters in three parts before the regular TV broadcast began in April 2024.
