This one hooks you in the first five minutes and then keeps yanking the tablecloth out from under you. The setup is pure bait: Suigin and Rei grinding Dungeon Century together until the servers go dark, then Grave Buster shows up promising "reality beyond reality" and swallows her whole. Everyone name-checks SAO, but this thing runs at short-format speed, episodes so truncated that once the OP and ED take their cut you're left with a handful of minutes that jump chronology like the edit bay caught fire. What survives is the look and the sound. The art is genuinely sharp, the OP and ED are better than this show has any right to have, and the fights move. Watch it for the craft and the audacity, not for a plot that closes its own loops, and go in knowing Suigin's rescue run is more vibe than blueprint.

Suigin Riku is a pro-level gamer who is so poor that he works several part-time jobs to afford the elite academy he attends. For weeks he has been adventuring with a girl he met in his favorite online RPG, Dungeon Century, until the game is scheduled to close. The day after the shutdown, he learns that his online partner is Rei Riku, the most beautiful and popular girl at school and the daughter of a game developer. Rei gives him a device for a new tomb raiding game called Grave Buster, but she is suddenly kidnapped. When Suigin touches the device, he is drawn into the game's world, where tomb raiders and tomb protectors have fought over the tomb of the mother goddess for a thousand years. Now he must play through Grave Buster to rescue Rei, whatever it costs him, while uncovering the secrets the game hides. The short-format series mixes action, comedy, fantasy and supernatural elements.
