Rohan Kishibe is insufferable in exactly the way that makes him magnetic, and these OVAs let him carry the entire weight of four separate supernatural disasters with nothing but his arrogance and a notebook. The animation treats every mundane horror moment like it deserves the budget of a feature film. Each episode goes somewhere completely different, which means you never settle into comfort, never predict what kind of nightmare Rohan will walk into next.

Rohan Kishibe, a manga artist hunting for inspiration, stumbles into four separate supernatural incidents in this horror mystery OVA. He joins his editor Kyouka Izumi on a trip to a secretive village whose residents are said to grow rich at 25, where a servant tests their manners with deadly stakes. In Venice, he hides in a church confessional and overhears a man describe a starving beggar and the eerie events that came after. He also buys six mountains to search for a legendary spirit tied to a cursed heiress, and he faces a young model whose gym rivalry with him ends in a fatal treadmill race. Viewers who thrive on atmospheric dread and self-contained stories will connect with this collection.
