Count D runs a pet shop tucked away in Chinatown, dealing in rare animals that are hard to find anywhere else. His customers come looking for something special. Every sale comes with a contract. Follow its rules, and all goes well. Break them, and the shop takes no responsibility for whatever misfortune follows. Leon Orcot, a homicide detective, has tied together a string of strange, inexplicable deaths, and every victim was a customer of Count D's shop. Now he means to learn why.
