Nobody expects a visual novel OVA to care this much about the small moments between characters. ToHeart2 adnext doesn't rush the confession, doesn't manufacture crisis, doesn't turn romance into a problem to solve. It sits with Komaki and Yuuki long enough that you actually believe why these two people matter to each other, which is rarer than it should be. The comedy lands because it comes from real awkwardness, not forced gags. If you've been burned by romance anime that treats feelings like plot obligations, this one remembers that the reason you fell for a character in the first place usually has nothing to do with stakes.
Two lighthearted OVA stories center on Takaaki and a different girl in each volume. In the first, the shy Komaki Manaka quietly longs for her classmate Takaaki but struggles to speak to boys. She gets him to help her sort books after school, and in private they practice using each other's first names. When his friend Kosaka Yuji spots them together and spreads the news around class, the other girls near Takaaki react in unexpected ways. The second volume turns to Kusakabe Yuuki, who as a child took Takaaki's clumsy words of comfort before she changed schools as something close to a marriage proposal. Years later, she and Milfa face off in a string of contests, from tennis and karaoke to table hockey and maid service, to decide who will be Takaaki's bride. The romantic comedy keeps the focus on awkward crushes and playful rivalry.
