The shrine maiden setup is just window dressing, what this show actually does is trap you in a time loop that keeps rewriting itself, forcing the same guy to fall in love with three different women across three different timelines and somehow remember all of it. The early episodes bury the lede hard, but once the supernatural twist lands, every scene you thought was generic harem filler suddenly means something different. Uryuu is actually compelling instead of blank, which means watching him choose matters in a way it shouldn't in a show like this.

Uryuu Kamihate is a high school student with one goal: getting into the medical school at Kyoto University. Raised in a noisy orphanage and wanting a quieter place to study, he is taken in at Amagami Shrine as a live-in freeloader. The catch? The shrine's head priest, Chidori, lets him stay on one condition: he has to marry one of his three granddaughters and one day inherit the shrine. Enter Yae, Yuna, and Asahi, the lively shrine maiden sisters he now shares a roof with. Uryuu has long dismissed the gods as nonsense, which puts him at odds with the sisters' beliefs, and between his studies, a string of marriage meetings, and the many troubles facing the shrine, his plan for a calm life falls apart. The result is a romantic comedy with drama, supernatural touches, and some ecchi moments, built around three potential brides living in the same home.
