A shy eighth grader buys a magic mug at a mysterious shop and accidentally summons a love fairy who grants wishes. What could go wrong immediately does. The show trades heavy stakes for the actual chaos of wanting something badly and having no idea what you're asking for, watching a kid learn that every wish comes with a price that isn't death or despair, just awkwardness and consequence that somehow matters more. By the end you're invested in whether Kaede figures out what she actually wants, not what her panic brain wished for at three in the afternoon.
Kaede is an upbeat eighth grader who turns painfully shy around boys. After school one day she wanders into a strange shop and buys a bright cocoa mug. A message engraved inside says that pouring hot cocoa while reading it aloud will summon a love fairy, a muglox, to grant wishes. She tries it, wishing to date Yuuki, the most popular boy in class, and out pops Mirumo, a cute blue muglox who cares far more about chocolate and mischief than helping her. Mirumo turns out to be the prince of the muglox world, on the run to avoid marrying his intended bride, Rirumu. Rirumu soon follows him, along with Yashichi the bounty hunter and a huge crowd of other muglox, some kind, some wicked and some plain odd, turning Kaede's school days upside down. Expect a magical girl comedy with fantasy adventure and romance.
