Nobody talks about this one. The magic system is built on collecting engine fragments scattered across reality, which means every episode is a genuine mystery where the girls have to figure out what they're actually looking for before they can find it. The friendship between Subaru and Aoi carries the whole show, it's quiet, specific, and earned through actual scenes of them talking instead of montages. By the time you realize this is secretly a show about saying goodbye to someone you need, it's too late to protect yourself from it.

Subaru heads to her school's observatory with a telescope to watch a meteor shower, but the door opens onto a lavish garden and a mysterious red-haired boy. The vision vanishes, leaving only a bouncing blob that leads her to a room of girls in witch-like outfits. One of them is her childhood friend Aoi, and the blob turns out to be a Pleiadian alien who has picked Subaru to join their afterschool club. Together the girls hunt for pieces of his ship so he can fly home, yet someone else is after those parts too, for reasons they cannot guess. The series mixes magical girl adventure, science fiction and a touch of romance.
