This is a show that treats its tactical system like chess, not spectacle. Every fight is a three-dimensional problem to solve, and the animation finally has the budget to show you the geometry of it. Osamu's squad isn't the strongest, they're the ones who think fastest, and that thinking is what makes you lean forward.

Osamu's scrappy squad finds itself climbing through Border's competitive ranks, chasing the dream of joining an expedition into the Neighborhood itself. With the Aftokrator invasion repelled, Border is readying a mission into the Neighbors' world, but only A-rank teams are sure of a place. Osamu, Yuma, a Neighbor he met by chance, and his childhood friend Chika push through the B-rank wars as Tamakoma-2, hoping to earn promotion before the operation launches. Then a fresh Neighbor ship closes in on headquarters, its attackers aiming for the expedition ship. With many squads tied up in the rank wars, Border scrambles to respond, and the mission's future is suddenly in doubt. The season is sci-fi action built around team battles and a new threat from beyond Border's walls.
