Kakyou's visions aren't predictions he can stop, they're memories of a woman already gone and certainties he cannot change. The animation renders his helplessness in every frame, every color shift a reminder that some futures arrive whether you're ready or not. Watch this if you need to feel something break inside you before the main series even starts.
Kakyou Kuzuki is a young, bedridden dreamgazer who serves the Dragons of Earth. He looks back on the life and death of a remarkable young woman he came to know only in his dreams. He also recounts the visions that show him a tragic future, one in which the fate of the Earth will be decided. Adapted from the Clamp manga, this single OVA is a prequel to the X TV series that blends drama, romance, mystery and the supernatural. It works as a teaser for the whole series and reveals some major plot points, so viewers may prefer to watch the show first.
