A stupid man with absolute conviction in his own stupidity is somehow the most honest thing on screen. Yokohama Bakkure Tai doesn't pretend Narita is secretly competent or hiding depth, he's just a loudmouth idiot who commits fully to every terrible decision, and the show loves him for it. The gags land because they come from character, not setup punchlines. His two henchmen are just as committed to the bit, which means the comedy never collapses into "winking at the audience." This is what happens when a manga about pure chaos gets adapted with the energy still intact. There's no plot to slow it down, no lesson hidden in the mess. Just a man causing problems in Yokohama, and everything that follows.
