This is what happens when a prefecture gets tired of being the internet's punchline and makes an anime about it. Nori Kamitsuki moves in from Chiba fully believing the online myth that Gunma is a lawless frontier you need a passport to enter, and the show spends twelve tiny episodes weaponizing that joke against him while quietly teaching you the local food and the regional pride behind it. The real flex is the back half of each episode, where the animation stops and an actual sitting mayor turns up on camera to pitch his town. Nobody grows, nobody changes, there is no arc, because this was never a character show, it is a tourism board with a punchline budget. Watch it in one sitting like a bag of chips, then catch yourself defending Gunma to someone who has never been.

Nori Kamitsuki expects the worst when he relocates from Chiba to Gunma, armed only with internet rumors about the prefecture's supposedly brutal reputation. What he finds instead is a community fiercely proud of its local identity, ready to introduce him to traditions and quirks he never knew existed. As Nori settles into his new life, he encounters passionate locals who treat Gunma's culture like a sacred treasure. Every regional specialty, landmark, and oddity becomes a source of genuine enthusiasm that catches him off guard. The comedy emerges from the collision between his preconceptions and reality, as well as the earnest evangelism of people determined to make him appreciate their home. It's a lighthearted celebration of provincial Japan that pokes fun at internet stereotypes while genuinely valuing regional pride. The show works best if you enjoy character-driven humor, slice-of-life moments that prioritize warmth over punchlines, and the specific comedy that comes from cultural misunderstandings. Perfect for anyone curious about how Japan's smaller prefectures maintain their own identities.
