A child alone in a future that wants her dead. That's the entire premise, and the movie never softens it. Alice wakes up 30 years displaced, stripped of everything, her time, her world, her people, and has to survive soldiers hunting her in a dystopia she doesn't understand. The film treats her survival as neither inspirational nor inevitable. It's just what happens when a kid refuses to stop moving forward, even when stopping would be easier. Alice, the youngest person ever sent into space, is the only survivor when her lunar voyage goes wrong and her ship crashes back to Earth. She comes to in a frozen wasteland and is soon attacked by strange soldiers, forcing her to run. A young man named Yuan takes her in and tells her she is in Lapland in 2030, thirty years after her launch. The world is now ruled by Nero, a mysterious dictator who holds power through a supercomputer and whose forces are hunting her. Believing Nero is tied to her leap through time, Alice sets out with Yuan and the android maid Maria for Kingdom, the fortress he rules from. The film is a science fiction adventure with a dramatic core.
