A girl terrified of heights joins a cheerleading club anyway because she needs to belong somewhere, and the show never treats that contradiction as a joke, it's just who she is. The chemistry between these five girls feels lived-in and specific, built on actual moments of failure and laughter rather than forced cuteness. Kohane Hatoya is a cheerful, clumsy girl who loves helping others, though she has been afraid of heights since childhood. Just before finishing middle school, she watches a cheer squad supporting baseball teams by the river and falls for the sport. When she starts high school, she finds there is no cheerleading club at all. At the entrance ceremony she meets Hizume Arima, a former member of that riverside squad who wants to leave cheering behind. Kohane decides to found a club herself and brings in Hizume, her childhood friend Uki Sawatari and her classmate Kotetsu Tatejima. Adapted from a four-panel manga, the show is a lighthearted sports comedy.
