A detective arrives on Mars to investigate a murder and discovers he's walked into a war between humans and the androids they've decided to stop trusting. The animation moves like nothing else from 1996, all ink and weight and deliberate violence that feels genuinely dangerous. Ross Sylibus doesn't solve a case here. He watches the world decide whether beings that think, feel, and bleed deserve to exist at all.

In 2046, people have grown wary of robots, and life is dangerous for the machines called Seconds, the newest model as far as the public knows. After a robot kills his partner, Detective Ross Sylibus asks for a transfer to Mars. A country singer on his flight is murdered, and on landing he meets his new partner, Armitage, a cop with a serious attitude. More women are killed, and the case exposes a hidden line of robots called Thirds, who are disappearing as a killer hunts them down. Armitage has a secret of her own tied to the case. The film mixes sci-fi action and mecha with romance.
