Annie Leonhart has a job to do, and the absence it causes must never show up on her record. When she asks her comrade Hitch Dreyse to cover for her, Hitch agrees on one condition: Annie has to crack the stalled missing person case Hitch was handed. The missing person is Carly Stratmann, a university graduate and daughter of wealthy businessman Elliot Stratmann. With just one day to find her and the Stohess District underground full of thugs, Annie digs in, but each answer raises new questions: how the illegal drug coderoin reached Stohess, what Elliot is concealing, and where Carly has gone. A second story turns to Mikasa Ackerman, whose worry for Eren Yeager stirs memories of talks with Armin Arlert and of the time she nearly lost everything, until she begins to live out an alternate version of her past.
