A talking dog who believes in you more than you believe in yourself. That's the whole show, and it works because Chokotan never pretends the thing Nao is scared of (giving homemade biscuits to a boy) is small. The special ends before it can get precious, leaving you with exactly what you came for: proof that sometimes all you need is someone in your corner telling you that you can do the thing.

Chokotan is a miniature dachshund who can talk to people in plain human speech, an ability she gained after she ate an odd flower. Her owner, Nao, has a crush on a boy named Arima, who has a dog of his own called Hatsupi. For Hatsupi's birthday, Nao bakes biscuits that dogs and people alike can eat. When the pair run into Arima and his dog on the sidewalk, Nao loses her nerve and runs off without handing them over. Chokotan cheers her on, and Nao resolves to go back and try again, even though she can hardly hold an ordinary conversation with Arima. Chokotan also has a secret of her own. The result is a comedy special about a girl, her talking dog and an awkward romance.
