A middle-aged salaryman gets trapped in his own MMO as an overpowered demon lord and immediately has to figure out how to survive people trying to kill him for being exactly what he looks like. The gap between his actual competence and his reputation does the heavy lifting here, he's powerful enough to accidentally solve every problem, powerless enough that nobody believes he doesn't want to be evil. A show that understands the comedy lives in the space between "I'm trapped as a villain" and "wait, I'm actually good at this," and it never gets tired of that joke.

Akira Ono is an ordinary working adult who helps run an online fantasy game and often plays it as his character, the Dark Lord. One day, when he logs in, he finds himself pulled into the game's world in that character's form. There he rescues Aku, a one-legged girl, and brings her along as his guide and companion. Unsure whether this is truly the world he helped build, he sets out to learn who or what brought him there. Because he is a mighty Dark Lord, nations and holy maidens set out to defeat him, and he leaves trouble behind wherever he goes. The series mixes action, adventure, comedy and fantasy.
