A middle-aged salaryman trapped in a villainess body decides the best way to escape the otome game plot is to lean into being evil, then immediately fails because he can't stop being a dad. A fifty-two-year-old Japanese bureaucrat is killed in a traffic accident and wakes up as Grace Auvergne, a duke's daughter in a fantasy world. Rather than fight this fate, the middle-aged man decides to lean into the role and play the villain properly, so the young characters around him can reach their happy endings. Except he keeps messing it up. His memories as a caring father constantly sabotage his villainous plans. He can't keep the foreign names of the characters straight. Every attempt to be sufficiently cruel backfires, and his kindness and polished Japanese manners turn the haughty Grace into the most admired girl at school. The result is a light fantasy comedy about a devoted dad armed with a lifetime of parenting skills and secondhand knowledge of the game, trying and failing to be a proper villain.
