Gen still hates every second of Stone Age life, and the show still finds the joke in that refusal to soften him. A kid from 2020 screaming about missing instant ramen while the Ganko family calmly eats gruel is the entire premise, and season two just keeps digging into that same vein of absurd survival comedy. The bit works because Gen never adapts, never learns, never accepts his situation, he just gets hungrier and more miserable in increasingly specific ways.

Gan Gan Ganko-chan comes back for a second run of short comedy episodes, eight in all. Gen, a boy from 2020, has slipped through time into a far future where no humans remain. He is living with the Ganko family at their house in the Rustling Forest, cut off from every modern comfort he knows. The home has no power, gas or tap water, and he must also do without TV, phones, convenience stores, snacks and video games. That sci-fi premise sets up the comedy.
