Three minutes of pure motorball violence rendered in 1999 polygon count that somehow captures the savage joy of Alita at her peak better than entire episodes do. The 3D gives the race a weight and speed that 2D never could; you feel the impact of every collision. This was a bonus feature buried in a manga reprint, which means nobody saw it, which means you get to discover something that moves like it was made by people who understood exactly what made Gunnm matter.

GUNNM 3D Special is a roughly three-minute 3D-CGI clip that was packaged with volume 6 of the Gunnm: Complete Edition manga reprint. It shows Alita competing in a Third League motorball race alongside rivals drawn from two of her races, including "Armor" Togo, Degchalev and Valdicci, and it recreates moments from both of those contests. Short and action-focused, it is a sci-fi sports showcase built around motorball.
