Ruby, a white Japanese hare from Jewel Land whose magic does not always work, is sent to the human world to find a partner, but a card from the magicians drops her there by accident. On the beach, a girl named Akari Sakura meets her on the way to school. Once a special candy lets Ruby speak and understand human language, she learns about Akari's troubles. A Jewel Charm then appears on Akari's hand, marking her as Ruby's chosen partner. The pair enter the Jewel Star Grand Prix, a magic contest in Jewel Land whose winner can have any wish granted. The result is a fantasy magical girl series.
