Ureshiko Asaba is a 26-year-old married woman who is secretly a magical girl called Agnes, the guardian of her town. She keeps this hidden from her ordinary husband, Tamotsu. Then Sayaka Kurenai, known as Cruje, arrives as the successor named by the magic realm, under orders to wipe out the town and its people so a new one can be made. Ureshiko is unwilling to hand over her post. At home she grows apart from Tamotsu and develops feelings for Tatsumi Kagura, a young man renting a room in her house, all while knowing that kissing an ordinary human would cost her powers forever.
