Minky Momo stumbles onto an island where children have built their own nation, and suddenly you're watching a magical girl OVA that's actually a Cold War satire with Dr. Strangelove bite. The absurdity never stops, grown adults posturing and scheming while a kid in a tiara watches it all collapse from the inside. It's comfort food disguised as political farce, the kind of 80s oddity that makes no sense until it does, then makes perfect sense that nobody remembers it exists.
Minky Momo's travels bring her to an island where she discovers a land of children. Before long she is caught up in an absurd, anything-goes standoff against the nations of the world. The 1985 one-episode magical girl OVA includes nods to the film Dr. Strangelove. After its first video release, it also played in theaters, sharing a bill with Mahou no Tenshi Creamy Mami: Long Goodbye.
