The pacing doesn't give you time to think, it just hammers gags at you until something lands. Four minutes of pure comedy noise where the joke is often that there is no joke, just characters yelling over each other about mahjong tiles. If you've ever loved Teekyuu for its relentless stupidity, this hits the same nerve, except the cast actually has personality underneath the chaos. The ending comes out of nowhere and the format means some bits repeat until they're threadbare. Watch this if you want comedy that moves so fast you can't even be mad when a gag doesn't work.

Mahjong Soul Pon☆ is a comedic short anime spun off from the free-to-play online mahjong game Mahjong Soul. Drawn in a chibi style, it follows the everyday lives of the residents of the Mahjong Soul shrine and the odd, random happenings that keep landing on them. The shrine is throwing lavish festivities with Ichihime at their center, and its one-of-a-kind players aim high, chasing a Thirteen Orphans hand. Kenshirou Morii directs at Scooter Films.
