A man discovers his entire heritage in a single afternoon, and has maybe thirty seconds to choose between the life he built and the one he never knew existed. The girlfriend who follows him into the stars anyway is the real gut punch. This 1987 OVA moves like it has somewhere to be, treating impossible decisions the way other shows treat exposition, fast, brutal, no room for doubt.

Lipumira comes to Tokyo searching for the legendary Mapman, the last surviving member of the Nomad Star tribe. She finds him in Gen Tokishima, the only person able to retrieve one piece of a starmap hidden within the Earth. Once that piece is recovered, Gen must decide whether to stay on Earth or join Lipumira in her reckless quest for the remaining pieces. He makes his choice, only to find that his girlfriend has reached the spaceship ahead of him because she wants to come along too. As Gen learns the secret of the starmap, Lipumira's sisters move to stop her at any cost. This single-episode sci-fi adventure from 1987 mixes action and drama, and it was screened in theaters on a double bill with TWD Express Rolling Takeoff.
