Nobody talks about this one. Mametarou's just trying to exist as a crossbreed in a world that doesn't explain what that means, surrounded by people who accept him anyway, which is the entire point. It's five episodes of nothing happening in the best way possible, no plot twists, no manufactured conflict, just a guy and his girlfriend and their friends being comfortable together. The show understands that the most radical thing it can do is let people like each other without needing a reason. Watch this if you want proof that anime doesn't need spectacle to feel like home.

Mametarou is a mixed-breed dog whose days are about as good as a dog's life gets. He has a loving owner named Iku, a treasured girlfriend named Hanako, and a close circle of friends around the neighborhood. His world still gets complicated: he worries about being a crossbreed, Iku is lovesick, and rivals compete for Hanako's affection. Facing one problem after another, Mametarou does his best to be a good pet and, above all, a good friend. The episodes mix comedy, romance and everyday slice-of-life moments.
