Negima has always run on romantic chaos, but this OVA finds the exact spell that makes that chaos physically inescapable: a magical red string that won't break, tying Negi to Nodoka for the duration while the entire class descends on a spa resort. The comedy lives in the gap between what the spell is supposed to do and what it actually does, which means watching Negi panic while the string drags him through increasingly compromising situations. It's the show's understanding that the funniest romantic hijinks aren't about feelings, they're about being literally unable to escape the person you're tied to.

Yue and Nodoka's magic practice takes an unexpected turn when they try what they believe is the Red String of Fate. The spell is supposed to reveal a person's destined partner, but it is really just a magical red string that joins two people together. Nodoka ends up tied to Negi by a string that cannot be cut. Meanwhile, Ayaka invites the whole class on a free trip to her family's newly built spa resort. Bound together for at least a day, Negi and Nodoka spend their time trying to manage a bath with their hands tied, hoping things do not go too far. The special mixes fantasy, romance, ecchi and comedy in a single lighthearted episode.
