The Oni don't stop coming, and neither does Getter Robo, it exists to destroy things in increasingly elaborate ways and doesn't apologize for it. Three completely wrong men in a robot that shouldn't work, piloting through pure spite and synergy, turning chaos into coherence one transformation sequence at a time. The animation wavers, the story is scaffolding, but the combat is relentless enough that you stop noticing either one.

Humanity comes under attack from demonic creatures known as Oni, and no ordinary means can hold them back. The scientist Dr. Saotome answers with a line of giant robots driven by the mysterious Getter Rays, which give them the power to fight the Oni. The mightiest of these machines is Getter Robo, and Saotome has to recruit three very different men to pilot it: Ryoma Nagare, a martial artist; Hayato Jin, the leader of a criminal group; and Benkei Musashibou, a monk. As the Getter Team, they battle to wipe out the Oni for good. The 13-episode OVA mixes mecha action and adventure with horror and science fiction.
