Komugi is too earnest for her own good, bombing every gig while her prettier friends coast, and the show finds comedy gold in her refusal to accept that she's just not that girl. The dual-life magic girl setup is window dressing for what this really is: a love letter to people who show up anyway, even when the spotlight keeps finding literally everyone else. It's funny because Komugi's spiritedness isn't a hidden superpower that saves the day, it's just annoying persistence, and that's enough.
Komugi Yoshida is a clumsy but spirited second-year middle schooler who leads a double life as an idol. While her classmate and close friend Kokona sees her popularity soar and the male-dressing idol Tsukasa wins fans with charisma, Komugi only lands small gigs, like shows in the local shopping district. Still, she holds on to her dream. Everything changes when she treats an injured, mysterious creature called Usa-P. To repay her kindness, Usa-P offers to make her a Legendary Girl with magical powers. Now a reluctant Magical Nurse, Komugi must fight waves of strange masked figures, while a Magical Maid, a Magical Sister and others turn the conflict into a three-way battle. Balancing school, idol work and magical combat, she has plenty to handle in this comedic magical girl series with a musical side.
