This is a clip show. If you've already watched Season 1, there's no reason to watch this instead of just rewatching the real thing. For people jumping straight to Season 2, it moves too fast to land what makes Momonga's takeover actually feel inevitable. The extended scenes are nice, but they don't change what this fundamentally is: a highlight reel masquerading as a movie.

Momonga, a longtime MMORPG player, suddenly finds himself trapped inside the world of the game he loves most. Once he grasps the unmatched power now at his command, he resolves to bring glory to Nazarick and alter the course of history. The film is a compilation that recaps the opening half of Overlord's debut season, with a handful of scenes extended beyond their original length. Expect a blend of action, adventure and fantasy as his plans take shape.
