The premise is borrowed, but the characters are too weird to forget: teenagers psychically conjuring armor from pure will, arguing and aching their way through an invasion nobody asked them to stop. Zeku's ship feels lived-in because the show actually cares about the friction between its cast, not just the next fight. Animation flickers and stutters in places that would tank a modern series, but that rawness becomes part of the charm, this is a show that knows exactly what it is and doesn't apologize for it.

The Garadain Empire has used up the resources of its own planet and now invades Earth to take what it needs. Zeku Alba, a Garadain scientist who rebels against the empire, escapes to Earth and gathers young people gifted with psychogenesis, the power to turn mental energy into solid matter. The strongest of them is Isamu Napoto, an orphan who lost his family in the empire's first attack. He can create Govarian, a giant armored robot that repairs itself through its pilot's psychic energy, and his teammates summon two more. Together they fight the invaders at home, in deep space, and even while trapped on the alien world, clashing with one another and falling in love along the way. The result is a 1980s mecha action series about psychic teens defending humanity from extinction.
