The plot says the seal on Kirin no Yuda and Houou no Ruka has broken and guardian angels are vanishing from Earth, but you and everyone else know the real engine is what Yuda and Ruka still feel about the Heaven that threw them out, and what the four Saint Beasts feel about each other while investigating it. It is not built for spectacle. It is built for candlelit two-shots, hands that linger, and conversations that stop one word short of confession. Yes, the scripting is forced and the plot bends itself into pretzels to trap two beautiful men alone in a room, and if that sentence sounds like a warning to you, this was never your show. For everyone else, 2003 shounen-ai rarely looked this good on purpose.
