Snow halation was only μ's second single, back when the group had just taken the name, and it already did what most idol anthems never manage: it turned a winter confession into something that aches. Reviewers keep circling the same two words, catchy and nostalgic, and both are right for the same reason. The melody is engineered so cleanly that it survives being covered, remixed, brass-banded and screamed at karaoke, and the animated MV on the disc sells the choreography instead of hiding behind cuts. The b-side, the karaoke tracks and the drama part are the completionist's excuse, but you know why you own this. You put it on in December and you get a little wrecked, every single year.

μ's, the idol group formerly billed under the Love Live! name, releases their second single with "Snow Halation" as the lead track. The CD pairs the title song with a b-side, adds karaoke versions of both, and includes an original drama track. A bundled DVD carries an animated music video for "Snow Halation", with choreography centered on Honoka Kousaka, Umi Sonoda and Nozomi Toujou, a lineup chosen by popular vote. The single came out for Christmas 2010, and the song later served as the ending theme for episode 9 of the second season of Love Live! School Idol Project.
