Yuuri's shrine fills up with goddesses and the whole show just... doesn't take itself seriously about it. That lightness is everything, romance blooms in spaces between jokes, not despite them. By the end you're invested in which girl he ends up with because the show spent twelve episodes making you actually like all of them, not just look at them.
Yuuri Mito is a third-year high school student whose family runs the Yachimata Shrine, so his days mix classes, motorcycle repairs and the odd exorcism. When a wooden relic in the school's woods is slated for demolition, he and his friends Ameri and Sankurou sneak in to move the spirits it holds. The ritual calls forth Kikuramikami no Hime, a Tayutai goddess who takes the form of a young girl and hopes humans and Tayutai can coexist. An accident caused by Ameri then destroys the relic, freeing the whole Tayutai race, including the powerful Nue, Ooryuu and Hou-ou, who look down on humans. On top of that, the goddess decides she is going to marry Yuuri, even as he ends up in the middle of a conflict among the beings he helped release. Adapted from an adult visual novel by Lump of Sugar, the show blends supernatural trouble with romance.
