Three alien inspectors arrive on Earth with orders to decide if we're worth saving, and the entire fate of humanity hinges on what they learn watching us be idiots. Tezuka's absurdist angle turns the apocalypse into a comedy about three bemused extraterrestrials trying to understand why humans keep failing in the most entertainingly stupid ways. The bomb sits in the background the whole time, ticking quietly while the show keeps asking: what would an outsider actually have to see to destroy us, and what would actually make them decide we're worth keeping.
Three agents from outer space arrive on Earth with a grim task: decide whether the planet is a danger to the universe and should be wiped out. They carry a black, ball-shaped bomb with two antennae to do the job if needed. Once on Earth, the humanoid visitors take on the shapes of animals they captured as samples of local life: a rabbit, a horse and a duck. They race around in the Big Wheel, a tire-shaped vehicle of enormous speed that handles both land and water. While weighing the planet's fate, they keep watch over a boy named Shinichi Hoshi and his older brother Koichi, who belongs to a secret agent group protecting the Earth. Created with Osamu Tezuka, this black and white 1965 sci-fi adventure comedy was Mushi Production's first original TV series. Its stories touch on ecology and poverty.
