A hurt god hands a giant robot to fifth graders and walks away. That's the entire premise, and the original series makes it work by treating those kids like soldiers who have to grow up fast. This OVA picks up after that collision between childhood and necessity, four more episodes of elementary school students carrying the weight Eldran left behind, fighting an alien empire that doesn't care how old they are. The mecha itself becomes secondary to watching kids who should be playing soccer instead make life-or-death calls in a cockpit. By the time the original series ended, you weren't watching a robot show anymore, you were watching a story about the cost of responsibility. This continues it.

A four-episode mecha OVA from 1992 that carries on the story of the Matchless Raijin-Oh TV series. In that earlier show, the evil Jaaku Empire invades Earth, and the injured guardian Eldran leaves the Raijin Medal to a fifth-grade class at Yosho Elementary School. The students go on to form the Earth Defense Agency, a team made up entirely of elementary schoolers, and take up Eldran's request to protect the planet while Jaaku spreads its Aku Darmer weapons around the world. Expect science-fiction action built around giant robots.
