These specials abandon the main series' competitive kendo setup entirely and just let the cast exist in bizarre scenarios with zero stakes. The chibi flash animation style gives it permission to be completely unhinged in ways the TV show never attempts. If you watched the original and wanted to see these characters stop pretending swordsmanship mattered and just be ridiculous together, this is exactly that.

Bamboo Blade: Fanfu-Fufe-Fo is a pair of comedy specials from 2008, included with the fourth and sixth DVD volumes of Bamboo Blade. These two specials plunge the Bamboo Blade cast into absolute nonsense. Rendered in flash animation with chibi-style characters, the episodes drop them into one strange situation after another, all played for laughs.
