A knight wakes up as a cat, not metaphorically, actually a cat, and has to pretend to be harmless while sitting on an elf girl's lap knowing he could level her entire village. The comedy lives in that specific tension: genuine affection grinding against the fact that he's lying about what he is every single second. By episode three you stop laughing at the premise and start caring whether either of them survives what happens when the truth comes out.

A young knight dies fighting demons and wakes up deep in a dungeon, reborn as a Behemoth, an S-ranked monster of legendary power and exactly the kind of creature he once protected people from. As a juvenile, though, he looks just like an ordinary orange house cat. He can take on the skills of any creature he eats, but he is badly hurt by the time he escapes the dungeon. Aria, a D-rank elf adventurer, finds him, nurses him back to health and adopts him as her pet, calling him Tama. Accepting her as his master and holding to the honor of his former life, Tama swears to keep her safe whatever it costs him. The result is a comedic fantasy adventure with action and ecchi elements, built around a fearsome monster living as a pampered cat.
