This show commits to one stupid bit so hard it becomes sincere, and that's the whole trick. Souji Mitsuka doesn't treat twintails as a preference, he treats them as a moral philosophy, and when Twoearle hands him the gear that turns him into Tail Red he doesn't flinch at becoming a girl because the hairstyle is worth it. The genius is the enemy design: alien monsters who each show up powered by their own specific fetish attribute, which turns the whole monster-of-the-week grind into a joke about otaku obsession that never once apologizes. No villain backstory, no sympathy detours, just henshin, banter, fast transformation fights, repeat, with Aika suffering visibly as Tail Blue. Strip the gimmick and yes, the plot underneath is standard sentai-by-way-of-magical-girl, and plenty of people bail in episode one. If you stay, it's because you understand what it means to care too much about something small.

A high school boy's obsession with twin-tailed hairstyles becomes his greatest superpower when aliens invade Earth to harvest humanity's spiritual essence. Souji Mitsuka has spent his school days rating girls' hair and advocating for a twintail appreciation club, but everything changes the moment extraterrestrial invaders begin their colonization effort. A mysterious woman named Twoearle recruits him to fight back by transforming into Tail Red, a warrior who channels the very aesthetic he loves into combat prowess. Alongside other twintail-powered fighters, Souji battles the sinister organization Ultimegil in a war where supernatural hairstyles become humanity's defense against alien conquest. The series mixes action and fantasy with broad comedy, ecchi humor and a dash of romance, as Souji and his childhood friend Aika Tsube, who fights as Tail Blue, keep their true identities secret while he copes with the fact that Tail Red is a girl.
