This is Negima at its most relaxed, which means the animators finally get to draw what they actually want. The OVA doesn't pretend to tell a story, it's a excuse to watch Asuna and Negi's dynamic crackle while the entire class becomes his personal comedy relief. Spring break on an island is just window dressing for what this really is: a showcase of character work and animation that makes you remember why you loved these people in the first place.

Some time after Negi's first year as a teacher, Class 2-A travels to a beautiful island for a spring break school trip. Life has settled down, but Negi is still the center of attention in his class, and that keeps causing him trouble. He has a bigger worry too: Asuna is angry with him because he told her she had no part in his studies as a wizard. When Asuna's friends try to help the two of them make up, things during the trip only get more complicated. The one-episode OVA mixes comedy, romance and ecchi elements.
