Nezumi Kozou lets you watch a folk hero completely wing it while pretending he knows exactly what he's doing. The kidnapping is real, the stakes are there, but the actual rescue plays out like a con man improvising his own legend in real time. By the end you realize the mystery was never who he is, it's that he figures that out right alongside you.

Okiku, a well-liked girl from Edo, has been abducted, and Nezumi Kozou steps in to rescue her, though who he really is remains an open question. Made by Sanrio as a short one-episode OVA, the story casts a real historical figure as the lead of a detective tale, mixing action with comedy.
