A magical girl dies in a car crash and wakes up as a giant robot. Studio Anime R took two completely unrelated franchises, smashed them together, and refused to explain why. The result is pure 1980s fever dream: Creamy Mami's pop sensibility colliding with Heavy Metal L-Gaim's mecha violence, all powered by a high-energy J-pop track that doesn't care if you're following. Copyright killed this before it could become a series, which means this one-shot pilot is the only proof it ever existed. That makes it less a show and more an artifact: the moment someone decided genre boundaries were optional.

Yuu Morisawa, the heroine of Creamy Mami, dies in a car accident and is rebuilt as Pony Metal U-GAIM, a crime-fighting super robot, in a setup reminiscent of Astroboy. The short pilot film drops her into the mecha world of Heavy Metal L-Gaim and sets the result to an energetic Japanese pop song. Studio Anime R conceived this experimental blend of genres. The planned series never went ahead because of copyright issues, so this promotional film and a small amount of merchandise are all that exist of the project.
